Cabbage/Tomato/Smoked Sausage Soup

Made this tonight with leftovers from last nights cook. It is really tasty. If you want to kick it up a notch, put a few shakes of Tabasco Chipotle sauce in it, it adds a great smokey flavotr and some heat.

CABBAGE/TOMATO/SMOKED SAUSAGE SOUP

Ingredients

3 tbls butter
1 ½ cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped celery
1 tsp minced garlic
2 14-oz cans whole tomatoes, broken
6 cups chopped cabbage
1 lb of smoked sausage, sliced on the bias
1 14-oz can carrot, sliced
1/2 cup chili sauce
1 tbls salt
1 tsp fresh cracked black pepper
1 tbls chicken bouillon
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp basil
8 cups of water

Directions

Melt butter in large pot. Brown smoked sausage in pot. Add and saute´ onions and celery until soft. Add garlic and saute´ for one minute. Add remaining seasoning and remaining ingredients and stir to combine. Add water. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally, and then reduce to simmer.

I think I might make a batch of that and freeze some for the day's when I come home from hunting and cold to the bone! Sounds like a good "cold day" soup!

Very good soup !! , I would add some cut up potatoes and possibly some browned italian sausage the next time I make it
