    Rescued an old WSM

Jen, The Home Depots in south Florida carry all of the grates for the Weber Smokey Mountain Cookers, so you might try them. Just after Christmas I bought an old 18.5" WSM. I used one of the purple degreasers and gave it a good cleaning. It really did a good job. It had some rust...

    Mavrick 732 return?

Matt, I like your explanation. 40 to 50 hours sounds a lot longer than 4 to 5 smokes!

    Mavrick 732 return?

Did I read that correct? You only 4 to 5 smokes from a set of batteries in the ET-732? Why does it use so much power?

How long have you gone without cleaning?

I don't clean the middle section but I do clean the lid so that I don't have ash and debris falling onto my barbeque.

Fixed door handle - replaced with compression latch

Alan, The poor latch on the WSM door has always been a source of aggravation to me and probably everyone else who owns one. Thank you for posting this excellent idea. I liked your mod so much that I ordered the Southco Compression latch off of Amazon. Lucky for me that I had a $15 Gift...

    Lowes Kingsford 2 20lb bags $9.99

I checked Home Depot's online Memorial Day ad this morning and I didn't see any charcoal at all. The Lowe's ad showed the 2 20 lb. bags of Kinsford for $9.99 so out I went. The cashier at Lowes said that she hadn't been informed of a limit of two two-bundles per customer so I bought ten 2 bag...

anyone ever have thier thermometer break on a wsm

When my Weber was still new I had a one time problem with the needle sticking. It was no bid deal and I loosened it with a light tap to the thermometer housing. I called Weber just to ask them if this was normal. The next thing I knew their Customer Service representative told me that they...

    Tequila Lime Cornish Hens

I was curious as to how long those of you who have made this recipe let the chicken marinate? Is it a relatively short amount of time (i.e., a few hours) due to all of the citric acid? Bill

Smoked Salmon - light on sugar and salt

Can someone shed some light on what is supposed to be done with the water bowl in this cook? Add water, which seems like it should be done with a 3 hour cook, or don't add water and foil it for a high(er)temperature cook (but for a 3 hour cook?)?

    Where to buy Pecan

Have you tried E-bay? I bought both Peach and Apple wood that way and I paid just about $5 over the shipping charges. I noticed that there are a lot of postings for Pecan wood in the Phoenix CL.
