    Stable firmware release v15

The MAC address of Raspberry Pi 3B+'s Ethernet port seems to change with every reboot. I am using the Ethernet port on my Heatermeter 4.3's RPi while I do some configuration work and wanted to define a static LAN IP address for the Ethernet network device. While the Heatermeter is running, I...

    Servo whine ?

Looks like my Tower Pro MG90S was original. See the attached photos.

    Servo whine ?

I put a 100uF/10v capacitor in and it did not make a difference. In this this thread https://tvwbb.com/threads/high-frequency-whine-from-servo-when-damper-fully-and-partially-closed.87422/ WBegg suggested I use the Vorpal Robotics servos from Tower Pro. They are certainly pricey, but I do...

High Frequency Whine From Servo When Damper Fully and Partially Closed

I think you are right. I went to a friend's house this morning and we put the 5V and control servo lines on an oscilloscope. While there are minor noise issues on those lines, the signals to the servo appear well defined and clean. We also added in an additional capacitor bridged across the 5V...

High Frequency Whine From Servo When Damper Fully and Partially Closed

I think there is a little less twitching. Should I double the capacitor to 220uF? Should I go further to 440uF?

High Frequency Whine From Servo When Damper Fully and Partially Closed

I added in a 100uF 10V capacitor bridging 5V Servo Power and GND. Still have the problem. I have recorded a video that shows what is going on and placed on Google Drive - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bZ7wmDGr-AYcVNDEDc-1zm_DXlEX93hX/view?usp=sharing. Anyone have an idea on how to resolve this?

High Frequency Whine From Servo When Damper Fully and Partially Closed

Cooked some chicken on an 18.5" WSM with the new HeaterMeter 4.3 with a RPi 3B+ for a 4th of July BBQ. The four hour cook was able to keep the pit on its setpoint but the MG90S servo was constantly twitching and did not just adjust and stay quiet. I used 5Ghz WiFi. I plan to purchase a 100uF...

High Frequency Whine From Servo When Damper Fully and Partially Closed

The replacement servo is a Tower Pro MG90S.

High Frequency Whine From Servo When Damper Fully and Partially Closed

Earlier whining servo burned out. Luckily had a replacement lying around. Finally got everything working. New servo seems to click/readjust every 5 seconds or so regardless of whether open or closed. Given my experience with the thermocouple, I think the Raspberry Pi 3B+ generates a lot of RF noise.

    Servo whine ?

I have the same problem and am using a Raspberry Pi 3B+. If you are using the same Raspberry Pi 3B+, perhaps the root cause is RF noise. Let me know type of Raspberry Pi do you have.

High Frequency Whine From Servo When Damper Fully and Partially Closed

While the top disk is removed, servo whines regardless of its orientation.

High Frequency Whine From Servo When Damper Fully and Partially Closed

I unscrewed the top disk, removed it from the damper, and ran the blower with just the bare post of the servo exposed. Still getting the whine. Is the servo dying? Any other ideas?

High Frequency Whine From Servo When Damper Fully and Partially Closed

Thanks Bryan, I will buff the two damper surfaces with a polishing cloth and put on a dab of 3 in 1 light oil.

High Frequency Whine From Servo When Damper Fully and Partially Closed

When I place my Adapt-a-damper into manual fan mode and set it at 0% the servo puts out a high frequency noise (whine). When the damper is fully open and the fan is at 100% there is no such noise. I do get whining when the damper is partially closed/open. Because the damper would not be fully...

Trouble Inserting Keystone Jack Into Adapt-a-damper

Filed down the lip on the left side of the above drawing and the jack slipped right in. Thank you.

Crimper Recommendation for Dupont Servo Connectors

Trouble Inserting Keystone Jack Into Adapt-a-damper

I purchased an Adapt-a-damper kit from heatermeter.com and am having trouble inserting the keystone jack into its designated slot. I understand how the jack is supposed to click in but there does not seem to be enough headroom for the two tabs to engage with the Adapt-a-damper body. Should I...

HM 4.3 With Oscillating Thermocouple Temperatures Over a 30F Range

Success!! RTFM on me. I was using Ethernet for LAN connectivity and switched to 5Ghz WiFi. Magically all the thermocouple noise disappeared. I guess for RPI 3B+, HM 4.3, you cannot use Ethernet and expect the Auber 1 x K Type Thermocouple w/ alligator clip, Smoker, High Precision (TC-K6A), or...

HM 4.3 With Oscillating Thermocouple Temperatures Over a 30F Range

Thermocouple temperatures (Probe 0) are still oscillating around a range of 25F. Not using WiFi just using Ethernet. Not seeing the probe noise icon appear in yellow on the dash and pressing N does not seem to make it appear. Attached is a few minutes of thermocouple Probe 0 readings. Swapping...
