    Longest......stall ever

Decided to smoke an 11 lb. picnic (local store had no butts) for Christmas dinner. Put it in the bullet yesterday afternoon. Luckily wasn't in a rush, after 25, yes, 25 hours, at 235 the internal temp would not go above 180. Foiled it and put it in a 300 oven for an hour and got up to 185. Now...

    Party Q rechargeable battery experience

Just wanted to post a quick observation. Smoked a couple of butts new years eve. It was 5° outside and breezy. Just picked up some Panasonic Eneloop rechargeable and though I'd give them a go. Well, 4 AA in my party Q lasted the entire 14 hour cook with no problems at all. Your mileage may vary.

    "pre smoking" my bird

Hey folks, haven't posted in a LONG time. So, I smoke a turkey every year on my WSM. This year however, our son is hosting his first Thanksgiving at his new home. Of course everyone still wants a smoked turkey. I REALLY do NOT want to move the WSM to his house. Now he lives only about 25...

    New Q220, not loving life

Ok, I'm bumming even more after reading some of these posts and hearing folks rave about their Qs. I purchased a new Q220 about 3 months ago, with the 20 lb tank hose and stand, not a cheap purchase. It was to supplement my 22 inch one touch and my WSM. I really prefer charcoal but sometimes...

What pork butt injection do you like?

Smoking 2 butts this weekend and want to try injecting. I've cooked many, many butts but never injected before. I've seen some good ones right here on this forum but was hoping for some, current, first hand favorites. I know some folks don't like to inject, the butts I have are not enhanced and...

reheating pulled pork on the WSM

Okay, I've read a bunch of past posts but here's my situation and any helpful suggestions would be welcome. I have a large group picnic this Sunday so as time allowed I've been smoking butts, pulling them, putting it in vacuum bags and freezing. I've got about 18 lbs in there now. The event...

    Cooking in bear country

Okay I'm not talking about Chicago here. Seriously I did a search on this and didn't find much, here's my problem. I need to do a pork butt cook at a camp that's in black bear country. Am I crazy? I'm doing 4 butts and have A LOT of people looking forward to it. Do I need to post an overnight...

    What it's ALL about

So I’m doing an overnight Mr. Brown butt smoke and my 16 year old, who loves pulled pork, says “so dad what do you do? Stay up all night?” and I explain that I sleep on the recliner in 2 hour stints and he says “can I sleep on the couch and you wake me up when you check the cooker?” Ok is there...

    Found Lump in New Jersey

I found a store in central NJ that carries Big Green Egg lump AND Wicked Good lump!! As well as a good selection of smoke wood chunks. I am SO excited, I've been looking for a while and could only find RO and Cowboy in local hardware stores. If you live in NJ and are looking for lump the place...

    Newbie at Lump

Okay, I know this lump v “K” thing has been kicked around a lot here but I’ve got a couple of questions. I’ve used Royal Oak lump in the past in my kettle for cooking “black and blue” steaks. It burns MUCH hotter in the kettle then K. So I guess I’m wondering if it’s a different animal in the...

    Tel-Tru BQ300 Install with pics

Ok, Got out the drill and installed the Tel-Tru yesterday. It was very easy, so easy in fact that my 16 year old son did most of the work, with dad’s guidance of course, so I could take the pictures. I measured 3" down from the handle as there was some discussion on the forum questioning the...
