Stepper Motor with Screw Drive for Horizontal Sliding Damper...Possible?

Hey all, long time no see. SCotton, this is something I'm very interested in working on. Over the last year I built a 250 gallon reverse flow offset and am missing my automated control. I've had crappy results using fans and can't replicate the tight control I have on it just by sitting next to...

    HM 4.2.4 3D Printed Case

Just got back from vacation and will check on that 4L version tonight. If you need it faster, I'm pretty sure I already have it embedded in the main .dwg file in which case you can just save the stl version of that case if you have inventor fusion.

    General 3D Printing Thread

I moved to this stuff http://mutley3d.com/Buy-PrintBite/ stuck directly on my 1/4" thick aluminum heat bed. It's pretty amazing.

    General 3D Printing Thread

Hey all, I just wanted to apologize to anyone that has sent me messages and I haven't replied over the last 6 months or so. Life has gotten in the way of my hobbies and I've only superficially checked into the heatermeter boards for a while. I'm starting to get back into things and just got my...

The Adapt-a-Damper - Open Source Project

I feel your pain Bryan. I am still recovering from a similar incident. My printer has been down for months. I almost have it back up.

    Flat Damper

Very nice design. I really like the rack and pinion mechanism. I've been working on a milled aluminum attachment for my BGE that uses a sliding door, but the servo attachment was through a lever arm which I've never liked. Your idea is much better and is going to finally allow me to finish this...

The Adapt-a-Damper - Open Source Project

But how do the slopes and intercepts compare statistically?

The Adapt-a-Damper - Open Source Project

WBegg, I love the test, nice work. My interpretation is a little different though. I would venture that a linear regression would demonstrate no statistically significant difference in those curves. Meaning that as far as dampers go, you can pretty much do what ever you want. But again, I love...

The Adapt-a-Damper - Open Source Project

The barrel still suffers from some non-linearity when it comes to servo control. The reason it never really mattered is that I found out early in my testing of the damper that running the servo in on/off mode gave the most impressive results. As you've elegantly demonstrated, there can be large...

    3D Printed Barrel Servo/Fan

Hey Harry, most people use abs or pla, but there are many other types. The fins are indeed supports and pop out after printing. I usually print at 0.2 to 0.3 mm or about 10 mil thickness. The jack is designed for the hd tech brand cat5.

    3D Printed Barrel Servo/Fan

Harry, it's hard to say which one works best. Jas is correct in that the offset one has the most versatility and can operate within the widest temp range. However, for bbq'ing have had a lot of graphs look like WBegg's for both of them. This stuff isn't rocket science. Almost any contraption...

    DIY Thermocouple How-To

Ah, when you wrote 'welded a bead' I thought you meant some sort of soldering.

    Heatermeter on battery success!

That's awesome. I've been toying with adding a gas powered generator to my trailer smoker but I think something like this will be perfect.
