Guys,
I bought the 22" Smokey Mountain cooker and within a couple of months the access door handle came off the door? Someone here said use lock-tite, which i could not find up here in Buffalo, New York, so i ordered some. The handle still spins around independent of the latch? I can turn the handle 360 degrees and the door does not latch? Anyone have this problem? Or a solution? thanks, Nick Nick |

Hi Nick,
This is exactly what happened to me, first the door hardware started to slip, then, at 11:30pm, just as I was firing up an overnight burn, the inside Hardware of the door became detached and fell into the bottom of the smoker. I think the mechanism isn't well designed but the good news is I did exactly what Jim suggested and they said they'd send me out a new door. In the meantime, I'm using a 3' dowel wedged into the hole in the door and supported by 3 bricks on the ground. It looks a bit hoopty but works like a charm.
