I'm going as a spectator. I am very interested in competing, but am clueless. I want to observe, then gear up to compete. Can anyone tell me what the average total investment in a competition is? Does anyone need help, I am willing to join a team if anyone wants help.

This is my first competition, so I am not sure what the average investment is. Meat, charcoal, gear... could get somewhat expensive. It was $150 for me to enter the backyard categories and there was a $50 discount if you participate in the people's choice pork contest, which I did. I have most everything I need for this, although I did have to pickup a 10x10 canopy, which I will use for future comps / other things. Definetly stop by my tent and say hello, the name of our team is Taylor'd BBQ. Trying to do the pork, chicken and ribs on 1 WSM.
