I just purchased my new WSM yesterday and am planning on cooking ribs, chicken thighs and a pork tenderloin. I know that they all require different cooking times, the ribs being the longest. I hope I don't mess it up as it took a bit of convincing to of my wife to let me get one.

I have been grilling for 15 years, and trying my hand a bbq using my 22.5 Weber kettle with decent results. I hope the WSM rocks the socks off the kettle when it comes to bbq!

BTW- does anyone else think that the 22.5 wsm is a monster? I was all set to get that one but after seeing it beside the 18.5 I just couldn't see my self using that. I have friends but not that many.

Welcome to the site. I see you found it before I had a chance to pm you back this morning! I think you made the right choice on the 18 wsm. I have read reports that the 22 uses much more fuel but like anything else you can always modify! Enjoy your stay and welcome to another great site. Vince

Welcome James.

I have the 22 but i had never seen one live before i orderd this big thing online.

And it took a while to get used to the size, but i could have gone with the 18 since its mostly family that eats my food.

You will be amazed with this cooker.

Welcome James. I have the 22. I got it on sale locally (the 18 wasn't in stock) and I love it. Sure it's big, but I wouldn't think it uses all that much more fuel. I've got a big brisket on as we speak; it barely fit on the grate. That's when I'm happy I have the 22. But it's all good. Enjoy!

Hi James, I have the 22 & I do not regret it at all. I love the fact that I can fit my full racks of ribs with no curling. My biggest cook was 5 12lbs pork butts. No problems at all. Whether you have the 18 or 22, it doesn't matter. You have the WSM & your having excellent BBQ!
