Hi,

Part of the fun of being online is meeting people from all over the U.S. and the world.

Your bulletin board profile has a field called "Location" in which you can enter your city, state/province, and country. This information is then automatically placed at the bottom of each of your posts.

Here's how to update your profile:

  • Click the "Go" button at the top left of page, and click "Personal Zone>>Profile"
  • On your profile page, click "View/Edit Complete Profile" at the top right of page
  • Scroll down the page to the "Location" field and enter your info.
  • Click the "Submit" button to save your changes.

Regards,
Chris

Bumping this top to the top of the list.

If you didn't do so during registration, please update your profile to include the location where you live. This will allow you to connect with people near you to discuss deals, offers, suppliers, and other useful information in your area. You might even decide to get together with someone in your neck of the woods for a barbecue! WSM Smile

Regards,
Chris

Yes, Please, please do this. It makes it so much easier to try to help you out when you are looking for certain things. Wink
Chris, This should be required IMO when you register. Just my thoughts. Thank you.

I'm not asking for your address. Confused

Let's say it's "highly recommended" but not required.

no, but with parts of names and town info anyone with some google time can find it.

i'd just prefer to have a little more control over that info.

chris, that's a good idea.

Sean, I'm using your post to bump this old thread again. I can understand your point (and you can see that I don't provide my city). But just as you have done, providing a state is a BIG advantage in helping with some posts.

This is what I posted today in a new thread on this subject: ( http://tvwbb.com/eve/forums/a/...301071016#7301071016 ).

"I see a lot of posts from members who have not updated their "Location" (and often have no other info). A lot of posts pertain to info that may be very regional specific. Knowing the Location can help to understand if the post might apply to those who are reading it. (A good example is the numbers of posts about sale prices of charcoal at Home Depot. HD seems to vary greatly by region for this commodity and I personally would like to know if the NC HDs are having such a sale -- but it doesn't help me at all if the sale is in New England.)

For those who might fear giving out personal info, a general location is fine. (I doubt anyone can find me in the approximately 5 - 6 million people in Central NC.)"

Just wanted to bump this up again.

There are a lot of new, and older members, without a location in their profile.

A general location is all that's needed.
It's not only interesting to see where you are from, but can be very helpful if you have questions, such as the climate in your area.
Or perhaps to steer you to a great deal nearby.

Putting your city and or state on the introduction page is great, but with so many members here chances are that we won't remember it when you post later.

Please go to the top of this thread if you need directions on how to add information to your profile.

Thanks, Bob. Well worth the "bump".

Again folks, you don't have to give your specific location, but for those of us trying to take advantage to the good info you provide in a post (recipe, weather, sale, etc.) it really helps to know if you are relatively nearby by just glancing at the info bar that appears at the bottom of each post.

Bumping this topic again. Please add a location to your profile. It helps make the conversation friendlier and helps other members help you better!

Regards,
Chris
