Just waiting for somewhat of a slight approval from the wife.

Chris, of course I will be ordering through the Amazon link.

Couple questions:

1. On your first smoke, did it run hot ?
If so, how many smokes till it was seasoned. I may only have 1 smoke on this before I need to use it in a competition.

2. How long did the free shipping on amazon take to deliver?

3. I am also going to start using a foiled no water pan. Just got sick of the water cleanup. Any problems, with all of the fuel the 22 holds, keeping temps down between 200 - 250?

4. For the owners of both the 18 & 22, I am somewhat limited on storage space. Is there anyway to fit the midsection and lid of an 18" inside the 22 for storage. Obsiously the charcoal bown wouldn't fit inside, but that could slide somewhere. I am guessing the supports for the grates on the 22 would get in the way.

Thanks to everyone for any insight.

1. Mine did NOT run hot. I was able to control the temp's from 200 - 280 easily.
2. Don't know.
3. I use a foiled water pan every time. I've had zero problems maintaining temps in that range and higher.
4. I don't have an 18 but if you think about it, that is the size of the grate (I Believe). Therefore the OD of the center section is going to be a bit larger. That being said, the ID of the 22 is 22 minus the space taken by the "straps flange" which in total is about 1 inch maybe 1.5 inch. So usable space inside he 22 would be 21 inches. Could be tight. Without dimensions of the dome, I couldn't tell you.

Enjoy the 22 - I love mine.

4. With a 4" difference between the 18 and 22, that gives a 2" clearance so the 18's mid-section should fit inside a 22. Maybe even the lid too. Stack all the grates on the bottom.

No. No problem at all. I have not noticed the "hot run the first times- effect"

2. How long did the free shipping on amazon take to deliver?
I live in Norway. Does not apply Smiler Had to wait for three months to get mine.

Just ordered and received mine. I have Prime and I had overnight for 3.99. Arrived by noon the next day. I think free shipping is usually less than a week. Mine didn't run hot at all though I need to work on some small adjustments. Food was great thought first 2 smokes. I just foiled the pan and used water. Cleanup was pretty easy.

When I ordered mine it took 5 days with the free freight, which I thought was really good considering where it came from. Like you guys said, you get used to adjusting the vents, you can control the temp almost right down to the degree. WSM Smile

No problem keeping it between 225-275.

2. How long did the free shipping on amazon take to deliver? Bought at a local store.

I stopped by Ace last night and walked by the 22. WOW, is that thing huge. The 18 next to it looked like a mini WSM.

And of course my wife asked "And why do you need one that big?"...

Can't wait to get one ordered, although, that might have delayed it a coupel weeks.

I thought the same thing. Don't need one that big. Get the 18 and save $100. But "my wife" said get the 22. You'll wish you had it when you want to cook for a crowd...

I have the 22 WSM and I love it! I have it in the living room just to look at it if the wife would let me.
